New and exciting changes at Darwin Airport Hotels

Brand new packages, exciting renovations and a word from our General Manager

You may have noticed some changes around the Darwin Airport Hotels over the past few months.

With a new General Manager, Kayte Staraj on board, we’ve been reshaping both the Novotel Darwin Airport hotel and the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort, in order to highlight the best that Darwin Airport Hotels have to offer.

Creating a lush, tropical and relaxing environment, we want to make our guests stays the most comfortable and enjoyable they can be, whether you’re a family, a business traveller or hosting your special event.

With old fashioned Top End hospitality, we treat all of our guests like family, so we thought, why give you a chance to get to know the team?

And with all these exciting changes ahead, we’d first like to introduce to Kayte Staraj, our new General Manager who is leading the charge.

  • So Kayte, what’s you role and what does it involve?

“I’m the General Manager here at Darwin Airport hotels. My job involves a lot, but to sum it up, I’m in charge of overseeing the operation of Novotel and Mercure Darwin Airport Resort. Prior to taking on this role, I was the General Manager at Novotel Brisbane.”

  • What’s excites you most about the hotels?

“Novotel Darwin Airport and Mercure Darwin Airport Resort are only relatively new to the Accor Hotel network therefore they are still gaining traction in the Darwin market under the Accor banner. There is enormous opportunity to grow and transform these properties which is exciting to all of the team here.”

  • What do you love about Darwin?

“Even though I’ve only lived here a few months, I’m discovered so much I love about Darwin! I’m a big foodie, and one of my favourite eating spots in town has to be the Hot Tamale. I’m also very excited about the Taste Festival.”

“I love all the outdoor activities around Darwin. I love to go camping and 4WDing and also like to stay fit so it’s great living in a place where there’s so much to do outdoors.”

Exciting new packages tailored to our guests

With our guests in mind, we’ve been focussing on new exciting packages and offerings that tailor to your needs:

  • For travelling families we have a new family accommodation packages for your weekend trips. Starting from $154, families with two adults and two kids get breakfast, parking, wifi, late checkout and the kids eat free for lunch when the parents dine at our Long Fong restaurant or Essence Bar and Grill.
  • For sporting teams we want to be a home away from home, showcasing large group accommodation rooms and located just 1km from Marrara Sporting Complex, it’s the best place for teams to stay.
  • For meetings and events, we are making things a little more interesting and offering unique poolside BBQ’s and authentic Chinese banquets. You can ensure your guests are feeling engaged and excited by something a little different in Darwin.

So what changes will you be seeing around Darwin Airport Hotels?

Not only are we upgrading our packages and offerings, but we’re giving our facilities a getting a makeover too.

Internationally renowned designer, Stephen O’Dell from SODA Architecture and Interiors is on board to assist in the transformation of Novotel accommodation rooms, Essence Bar and Grill and a light refresh of Loong Fong Chinese Seafood Restaurant.

All this exciting work is scheduled to be completed by March 2019.
